Why Visit The Hygienist?
Preventing Gum Disease
Gums are the foundation of healthy teeth; more teeth are lost to gum disease than tooth decay. Strong and healthy gums mean strong and healthy teeth. This means less treatment and therefore less cost for you! Regular visits to the hygienist help improve oral and dental health as well as helping prevent periodontal (gum) disease, bleeding gums and dental decay.
Therefore as part of the preventive philosophy of the Crofts Dental Practice, we recommend twice-yearly visits to the hygienist alongside your regular dental check ups.
It has recently been demonstrated that there is a link between gum disease and increased probability of heart disease or strokes in later life.

Confidence Back in your Smile.
The hygienist by using our ultrasonic scalers will help remove plaque and tartar which also extends below the gum line. As well as scaling, the hygienist will also professionally clean and polish your teeth. For heavily stained teeth, the improvement can be dramatic. Bad breath is often caused by gum disease and therefore regular scaling by the hygienist can help prevent this and give you more confidence in your smile.
Our hygienist will also give you advice on your brushing and oral hygiene techniques; most of us assume we know how to brush our teeth but often we maybe brushing too hard or missing crucial areas and storing problems for later.
If you have a special occasion coming up, why not pop in and get that clean, fresh and sparkling mouth.
Anxious About Visiting The Hygienist?
Don’t worry if visits to the hygienist cause you anxiety, at the Crofts dental Practice, we use a gel to help sooth and gently numb the gums for those patients that require it, there is no need for any needles!
